- Settler named John Roy writes to say he will sell land at Pine Tree (near Merigomish) from his farm to the Indians at Pictou landing at $18 an acre. He says they are very anxious to have it and it will be suitable for their needs.

- Indian Agent explains that John Roy wants to sell a portion of his farm to the Pictou Landing indians at Merigomish. Agent explains that it is close to the island and would be benficial as a camping ground and as a place to sell their wares. States that 10-15 families settle there for the winter, and this land is used to get eels and smelt from the bay. Roy's property is currently 'injured' by this settlement, and a group of Mi'kmaq approached Agent to ask to buy the land.
